Panmes-D Tablets (Pantoprazole Sodium and Domperidone tablets) are used to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), manage peptic ulcers, and relieve nausea and vomiting associated with gastrointestinal disorders.
PANMES-D TABLETS
“Panmes-D Tablets are commonly used to treat Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) by reducing stomach acid and alleviating heartburn. They also help with nausea and vomiting by promoting gastric motility, ensuring food moves through the stomach properly. The combination is effective in managing peptic ulcers, promoting healing by reducing acid levels. Additionally, they provide relief from dyspepsia (indigestion) by improving digestive function“.
Composition
Pantoprazole Sodium IP 40mg and Domperidone IP 30mg
Uses
Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD): Used to treat GERD by reducing stomach acid production and alleviating symptoms such as heartburn and acid regurgitation.
Peptic Ulcers: Helps in the healing of peptic ulcers and prevents their recurrence by inhibiting acid secretion.
Nausea and Vomiting: Domperidone works as an antiemetic to relieve nausea and vomiting associated with gastrointestinal disorders.
Dosage
Typically taken once daily, 15–30 minutes before a meal.
Dosage and duration depend on the condition and doctor’s recommendation.
Do not crush or chew the tablet
Mechanism of action
Pantoprazole: A proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that blocks the acid-producing enzyme in the stomach, reducing acid secretion and protecting the stomach lining.
Domperidone: A dopamine antagonist that increases stomach motility and accelerates gastric emptying, relieving nausea and vomiting
Side Effects
Gastrointestinal Issues: Nausea, diarrhea, or constipation may occur.
Headache: Some patients may experience headaches.
Dizziness: Possible dizziness or lightheadedness.
Fatigue: Some individuals may feel tired or weak.
Serious Effects: Rarely, there may be risks of cardiac effects (e.g., QT prolongation) with domperidone or allergic reactions.
Precaution
Cardiac Conditions: Use caution in patients with heart problems, as domperidone can affect heart rhythm.
Liver and Kidney Function: Adjustments may be necessary in patients with liver or kidney impairment.
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Consult a healthcare provider before use; safety during pregnancy and breastfeeding is not well established.
Drug Interactions: Inform your healthcare provider about all medications you are taking, as there may be interactions with other drugs, particularly those affecting heart rhythm or liver enzymes.
